Tyler Harris
Tyler first joined St. Christopher as a Barrier Island naturalist in August 2022. Since then, he has continued as a naturalist for two seasons, and even served as the Summer Outdoor Encounters Coordinator. He is now our Assistant Director of the Barrier Island Environmental Education Program!
His favorite part of working at St. Christopher is helping youth connect to nature and in turn, connect to God.
The spring before joining St. Christopher, Tyler graduated from Virginia Tech with degrees in multimedia journalism and environmental conservation. Growing up around nature in southwest Virginia, he has interests in ecology, forest environments, and how humans interact with the world around them. Beyond that, Tyler loves to hike, kayak, and hit the Rec Field for ultimate Frisbee.
Where do you see God at St. Christopher?
I see God in St. Christopher’s wildlife, especially when looking at the detail and purpose behind even the smallest of invertebrates.
What is your favorite place on campus?
By far, Crab Dock. The beauty and serenity of the salt marsh is unmatched there.
What is your favorite Bible verse?
Philippians 4:6-7: Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. (NLT)
