You and your household have the opportunity to experience classes like Let’s Sea, Woods/Creatures of the Marsh, Herpetology, Scales & Tails, Lost & Found, Ocean Impact, Campfire, Dance, Nocturnal Wildlife, and Noodle Hockey; with lodging in our cabins and meals included!

Welcome to St. Christopher Barrier Island! We are so happy that you are here! We are excited for a weekend full of new experiences, education, and most importantly, FUN! We are offering a range of activities from a walk through the salt marsh to our infamous mudpit, a hike through our maritime forest, learning and meeting some of our local species, learning campfire songs, and more!

We are looking forward to welcoming families and households to our Barrier Island Program who have children aged 0-12th grade. Please keep in mind that this camp is intended for families and households with children, not for groups of exclusively adults. -
The cost of our program is $250 per person for the first two people, with the price reducing by ½ for each individual. For example, the cost for the third person is $125, the cost for the fourth person is $62.50, etc. We do not require you to pay in full at the time of registration. All balances are due on January 10, 2025, and registrations will be canceled January 13, 2025 if balances are not paid by the deadline. We do require a deposit at the time of registration. A $50.00 deposit per member of your family or household is required for Family Weekend. All deposits are non-refundable. Fees are all inclusive, including meals, cabin lodging, and activities. We accept Mastercard, VISA, and Discover cards for online payments.

Limited scholarship is available from our scholarship fund. We can provide up to 1/3 of the cost for those with a verifiable need. You can apply for a scholarship during registration by filling out the “Barrier Island Family Weekend 2025 Scholarship Form”.
The scholarship form must be completed by January 6, 2025 for it to be reviewed. A household must be registered before scholarship assistance can be requested. On January 6, 2025, all scholarship requests will be reviewed, and will be communicated before the January 10, 2025 deadline.

Our cabins are available for lodging during Family Weekend for no additional cost. Families that share a cabin with another family will receive a $100 discount towards their final balance.
Lodge rooms in our Conference Center are available, while availability lasts, for an additional cost of $100 per night per room. The lodge rooms include linens and limited toiletries for your stay.

Equipment List for Barrier Island Family Weekend 2025
You will be participating in many different activities, so please pack options. Clothes should be modest in nature to support an active lifestyle. Only old clothes are needed since new clothes may be ruined by heavy outdoor use. Please know that all clothes have the potential to get VERY DIRTY depending on the class, so we do not recommend bringing your favorite clothes. It has the potential to be cold, so please pack accordingly.
1 sleeping bag or bed roll (sheets and blanket) + pillow
1 OLD outfit to be worn in salt marsh (tie-on shoes required. If cold, please bring layers!)
2 pairs of old pants
Enough underwear and socks for 3 days
3 shirts for 3 days
At least 1 sweater or sweatshirt
1 warm jacket & hat (cold weather)
2 pairs of sneakers (one OLD pair to be worn in salt marsh and other wet classes)
1 Raincoat or Poncho
1 pair of pajamas
Toiletries (toothbrush, soap, toothpaste, etc.)
2 towels (one for beach, one for shower)
Insect repellent/sunscreen
Plastic bag for dirty clothes
Water bottle

Please note…
Families must carry all their belongings from the parking lot to the cabins (200 yards). Please limit luggage to one suitcase, backpack, or duffel bag, plus one sleeping bag or bedroll. No trunks! A heavy-duty trashcan liner can be used instead of a suitcase. Avoid sending unnecessary items.
The Barrier Island Environmental Education Program is not responsible for articles left behind, however, we do keep Lost & Found items for a week following your child’s trip. If you believe your child lost something while at Barrier Island, please give us a call at (843) 768-1337 and we will let you know if we find it!
Mud pit clothes will be going home with you! These can be washed and re-worn or donated to any organization that accepts clothing donations.
