BOOK A PERSONAL RETREAT

Now Taking Reservations

You don’t have to come with a group to enjoy the rest, restoration, and renewal that time at St. Christopher can provide! All are welcome to join us for a personal retreat, scheduled at a time that works for you.

Why might you make a personal retreat?

  • Seek a deeper connection with God and nature

  • Carve out quiet, undisturbed time to write or work on art

  • Experience the kind of deep rest that is hard to experience sometimes in daily life

  • Enjoy time together with a spouse or as a family

  • Find mental and spiritual space to reflect on major life events, such as a job transition or family situation

  • Discernment of vocation

If you are interested in making a personal retreat, please contact Lisa Marrone for more information and to make reservations.

RESPITE RATES FOR CHURCH PROFESSIONALS

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." - Matthew 11:28-30

As a clergyperson or lay professional in your congregation, you are responsible for spiritually forming, leading, teaching, and inspiring the communities they serve. For many, especially clergy serving alone in smaller congregations, you are on-call 24/7 to assist with pastoral care needs. It can be a challenge in your daily routines to find time for Sabbath: to rest and listen deeply for God’s still, small voice. And yet, taking this time is vitally important for your spiritual health, and by extension the whole Christian community.

To help you take this vital Sabbath time, as a clergyperson or lay professional serving a congregation, you are invited to stay in the Clergy Apartment at St. Christopher for a respite period at a special discounted rate. This opportunity is open to Episcopal clergy and lay professionals, and also to those serving in other denominations. We pray that all those who avail themselves of this opportunity will truly experience rest, restoration, and renewal in these peaceful surroundings.

A time for respite is different from a vacation. The focus is on deep rest, time for prayer and relaxation, and opportunities for quiet reflection. While here on respite, you might choose to walk on the beach, watch the sunset from the pavilion, pray in one of our chapels, read, journal, work on artwork, or otherwise do those things which restore the soul and fortify you to return to your community renewed. You may attend a respite period either alone or with your spouse, and you may opt to prepare your own meals or, for an additional charge, to register for meals that are scheduled in our dining hall.

If this applies to you and you are interested in reserving the Seabrook Apartment for a respite period, please contact Lisa Marrone to begin the process. View our current respite rates here.
