Assistant Director of Food Service

Assist the Director of Food Service in the overall kitchen responsibilities at St. Christopher.  This position includes shared responsibilities for meal preparation, hospitality to guests, quality assurance, adherence to established federal and state food safety procedures as it pertains to food storage, food preparation, and food delivery. This position also assists with hiring/ vetting and training qualified food service personnel, supervision, budgeting, menu planning, ordering, and providing hospitality to both guests and staff. 

30-40 hours per week. Morning/ Afternoon shifts 6am-2 pm and Afternoon-Evening Shift 12-8 pm may be required, depending on the needs of the conference center. Weekend/weekday availability.

Must be able to stand for long periods of time, communicate clearly to guests and staff, lift 50 pounds, along with the ability to maintain positive interactions with fellow staff and have reliable transportation. The ideal candidate will have an associate's degree in culinary arts or 3-5 years' experience, including supervisory experience.

This position includes full benefits (health insurance, retirement) and the option to live on-site (following successful discernment period of employment). Salary range is $38,000 - 46,000, commensurate with experience/housing option.

Food Services Associate

St. Christopher Food Service Department has openings for P.M. shift team members for set-up and break-down of dining areas as well as assisting with family style and buffet service to 30-300 clients. Other responsibilities include, stocking service stations, assisting with dish, pot and pan and small ware clearing and cleaning, salad bar preparation, sweeping/mopping dining room floors and trash disposal.

30-40 hours per week. Morning/ Afternoon shifts 6am-2 pm and Afternoon-Evening Shift 12-8 pm available with school, child-care and second job schedule adjustments available if necessary. Random weekend availability necessary.

Must be able to stand for long periods of time, communicate clearly to guests, lift 30 pounds The ability to maintain positive interactions with fellow staff and have reliable transportation. A solid culinary or Hospitality back-ground is a plus but not necessary as on the job training is available.

Barrier Island Environmental Education Naturalists

Want to teach at the beach? St. Christopher Camp and Conference Center is seeking passionate, Christian teachers for our Barrier Island Environmental Education Program! BI is in partnership with the Episcopal Diocese of SC and is located on Seabrook Island, about 25 miles from Charleston. The BI program is in an area that lends itself to show the diversity of ecosystems in the Lowcountry. These areas include nearly a mile of beach, acres of salt marsh and undisturbed maritime forest, including ponds and freshwater swamp.

Position Duration: August 18, 2025 – May 15, 2026

Responsibilities: Educate students in grades K-12 in environmental-based classes on beach, salt marsh, and maritime forest ecosystems. Other topics include Herpetology, Ornithology, Orienteering, and various team-building activities. There are also opportunities to assist with animal care, maintenance of trail systems, and aid in curriculum development, and other camp responsibilities. Because St. Christopher Camp and Conference Center is a thriving Christian community, Barrier Island staff have the opportunity to participate in Bible studies and weekly chapel.

Requirements: A bachelor’s degree is required. A focus on education, biology, or environmental science is preferred but not necessary. An interest in teaching, communicating, and displaying God’s love with grade-school students is essential.

Sous Chef

As a Sous Chef, you would assist the Director of Food Service in the overall kitchen responsibilities at St. Christopher and collaborate with Head Chef on the needs of the morning crew. This position includes shared responsibilities for quality assurance, adherence to established federal and state food safety procedures as it pertains to food storage, food preparation, and food delivery, as well as assisting with hiring/ vetting and training qualified food service personnel, budgeting, menu planning, ordering, to guests and staff.
