Katie Sullivan

Katie came to St. Christopher on a Plant Taxonomy field trip with the College of Charleston in the Spring of 2021. It was then that she fell in love with St. Christopher and came back as a Naturalist Intern for the 2021-22 Barrier Island season. She then completed 2 seasons as a Senior Naturalist for Barrier Island (2022-23 & 2023-24) and also acted as the Summer Camp Assistant Director for the Summer of 2023 and the Summer of 2024. She now serves as the Director of Student Ministries, overseeing the logistical side for the Barrier Island Environmental Education Program and Summer Camp.

Originally from West Michigan, Katie moved to Charleston in 2017 from Southern California after being involved with a Music Outreach Organization and performing arts college called The Young Americans. She moved to South Carolina to attend the College of Charleston and graduated in the Spring of 2022 with a B.S. in Marine Biology.

Where do you see God at St. Christopher?

I see God in the faces of the children experiencing creation at St. Christopher. Anywhere from the beach, the mudpit, the forest or the herpetarium. Their awe and wonder is where I see God at St. Christopher.

What is your favorite place on campus?

My favorite place at St. Christopher is the beach/estuary. I always feel closest to God there.

What is your favorite Bible verse?

My favorite bible verse is Isaiah 43:2 “When you go through deep waters, I will be with you”.
