Jared Crain

Jared is now serving as our Director of the Barrier Island Education Program, after previously being the Outdoor Encounters and Local Outreach Coordinator at St. Christopher. He studied Environmental Science and Writing at Berry College for Undergrad and Geography at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where he received his Masters. His previous work experience includes physical geography, wildlife behavior, and conservation research, consultant technical writing and journalism, teaching collegiate laboratory curriculum, and teaching as a naturalist in the Barrier Island Environmental Education Program at St. Christopher.

His professional interests include coastal ecology, animal behavior, biogeography, sustainability and conservation, science communication, and education. When he’s not serving at St. Christopher, you can find him kayaking tidal creeks, searching for sharks' teeth and fossils, playing an assortment of sports and games, and exploring new places and trails.

What is your favorite place at St. Christopher?

My favorite place on Campus is the Crab Dock, where maritime forest meets pristine marsh and God's presence is felt through the colors, scents, and sounds of His coastal Creation.
