Frankie Scavullo

Frankie was born in Great Neck, New York as the youngest of 7 children in the late sixties. Frankie’s father was a second-generation restaurant equipment manufacturer specializing in upscale tri-metal stainless and copper cookware. After working a summer in his father’s factory and part time during the school year for his brother who owned an Italian restaurant, Frankie took his first real job in a professional kitchen at Augusta Country Club. The Executive Chef of the country club encouraged Frankie to attend culinary school and soon Frankie was accepted to Johnson and Wales College in Charleston, SC; where he graduated with a Culinary Arts Degree in 1987. His culinary experience includes working with the famed Nikolai’s Roof atop the Atlanta Hilton Hotel, as the Executive Chef and Director of Food Service at Franke at Seaside’s Active Lifestyle Community in Mt. Pleasant, SC, as Executive Chef at Harbor Masters Restaurant and Antonio’s Restaurant in Hilton Head, SC, as well as the Outlet Chef at the Atlanta Renaissance Waverly Hotel and Sous Chef at The Abbey Restaurant in Atlanta, GA.

In 2022 Frankie completed what he felt was a twelve-year calling to serve as Executive Chef and Director of Food Service for the active lifestyle community at Franke at Seaside in Mt. Pleasant and seek other opportunities, which as it turns out was to transition from serving retired clientele to serving youth groups and conference guests as the Director of Food Service at Camp St. Christopher.

Where do you see God at St. Christopher?

God and the Holy Spirit are present all over the grounds of St. Christopher through the abundant nature and wildlife on the property, as well as the peaceful and cordial guests who visit the property.

What is your favorite place on campus?

I cannot say there is one single favorite place on a property that has so many great areas. During different times of the year I enjoy relaxing on the estuary beach, bike riding the trails, walking to the point, kayaking from crab dock and so much more.

What is your favorite Bible verse?

Mathew 14: 13-21. Being a chef and sometimes having to make more from nothing , I relate to this passage. Also that Jesus was grieving the loss of John yet was called upon by the masses who were devoted to HIM.
