Assistant Director of Environmental Education

St. Christopher Camp and Conference Center is looking for an Assistant Director of Environmental Education. This middle level management and teaching position shares in the leadership of the Barrier Island Environmental Education program. The Barrier Island Program provides public and private school students the opportunity to learn about and experience nature in a way that is hands-on, memorable and fun. This program which began in 1980 now impacts over 9,000 students annually by giving them the chance to discover the scientific world with all of their senses in an open and encouraging environment with lessons in biology, ecology, conservation, astronomy, botany and much more. Barrier Island’s sessions run throughout the academic school year. Schools come for either 3 day or 5 day sessions. The Assistant Director shares in the annual responsibility of hiring and training a team of at least 13 Naturalists. All Naturalists live in community in residence at St. Christopher from mid-August through early May, with the Assistant Director sharing responsibility in assisting in their discipiling and the ordering of their common life. Facilities Technician

We are seeking an experienced, spiritually mature Christian to serve as a Facilities Technician. You will provide hands-on skills in cooperation with a team under the supervision of the Director of Facilities in the maintenance of St. Christopher’s 33 buildings and 314 acres of grounds. We are looking for someone with construction trade skills and experience as well as grounds keeping abilities. Prior experience and teachability are both highly desirable. This position is available immediately. This full time hourly benefited position is available now. St. Christopher Internship

The St. Christopher Internship is a seasonal work program that gives young adults an opportunity to spend the fall and/or spring living and working at St. Christopher Camp and Conference Center. The Internship runs roughly from August 15, 2018 to May 10, 2019. Responsibilities include supporting the daily operational needs of the Conference Center and ensuring that guests are cared for in accordance with our mission of providing rest, restoration and renewal. This also involves providing welcome briefs, serving at the reception desk of the Welcome Center, serving as meal host, providing technical assistance to visiting groups, and other duties as assigned. Room and board are provided with a weekly stipend in a flexible 40 hour week that can include some evening and weekend responsibilities.

Barrier Island Naturalist 2018-2019

St. Christopher Camp and Conference Center seeks conservative evangelical Christian Naturalists each school year to work with the Barrier Island Environmental Education Program. St. Christopher is run by the Diocese of South Carolina and is located 25 miles south of Charleston on Seabrook Island. The campus includes nearly one mile of beach, 100 acres of salt marsh, 200 acres of undisturbed maritime forest, two freshwater ponds, and a freshwater swamp. The year will provide an opportunity to not only gain valuable environmental education experience, but also learn how to be a minister through all walks of life.

Help us keep our conference center clean and ready for guests who seek rest and restoration. Duties include stripping and making beds; replenishing linens; cleaning lodge rooms, assembly spaces, halls and bathrooms; dusting and vacuuming; mopping floors; setting out new towels and soaps; loading and unloading laundry machines, sorting and folding clean laundry.
