12331583_1523301221329876_181058722_nAndrew Bailey, our Naturalist from Rockmart, Georgia, has brought his faith and his love of learning to Barrier Island.

Andrew graduated from Shorter College with a History major and a Christian Studies minor; he also obtained his associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education. After feeling called to missionary work, Andrew has used both his strengths and his shortcomings to bring glory to God in a multitude of settings. “God doesn’t choose the strongest or most capable,” Andrew says. “He told us ‘My grace is sufficient for you; my power is made perfect in weakness. (2 Corinthians 12:9)” God working through him, though he has Asperger’s and dyslexia, Andrew has mentored and witnessed in San Francisco, where he worked with homeless/runaway youth, and in other areas of California, where he worked with homeless families and in skate park ministries.

With his patience and enthusiasm for education, Andrew has been a light to countless students this year at Barrier Island. Saint Christopher is blessed to have him.

Andrew finds our job quite interesting; consequently, his Instagram account is full of “Barrier Island Life” snapshots. Check out his photos and captions below. I think you’ll enjoy his little taste of what it’s like to be a Naturalist:
